Microsoft offers Ahmedabad boy $180,000 package

An Amdavadi boy who attended school in Shahibaug and interned at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Ahmedabad, has landed one of the highest pay packages offered to an engineering postgraduate - $1,80,000 USD plus incentives. The offer was made by Microsoft to 23-year-old Priyanshu Kumar Jha, who earned a master's from Singapore. Priyanshu will work for Microsoft's Bing search engine as development engineer.

Priyanshu will head to the Microsoft headquarters in the US next week. He is the youngest of the batch of students who appeared for placements at the National University of Singapore this year, where he studied for the master's degree in software engineering. He has secured a bachelor's degree in information technology from UV Patel College of Engineering, Ganpat University, Mehsana.

Priyanshu's father, Prabhat Kumar Jha, is a zonal director (central zone) National Small Industries Corporation, ministry of medium, small & micro enterprises. Priyanshu's mother, Ranjana, is a homemaker. Priyanshu completed his schooling from Central School, Shahibaug.

"As an engineering student, I always aspired to work for Microsoft at some point in my career," Priyanshu said. "But to have my first job, at this age, as an engineer in Microsoft is a dream come true." Being the youngest achiever in his group has been Priyanshu's habit. He was the youngest to be chosen for the master's programme in Singapore. "I had to put in a lot of extra work to keep up with my batchmates, who had a minimum of two years of work experience," he said. "I was the only one with no work experience, but my top scores always gave me an edge over the others."

Priyanshu told TOI that he had been exposed to computers since 1994. "My dream is to work for corporations for a while and use my learning to launch my own company after coming back to Ahmedabad," he said. "I want to give back to society which has given me so much."

As for the interview with Microsoft, Priyanshu said it consisted of six rounds with each one lasting six hours. But he said the interactions were always relaxed.

PC TIPS (WIN XP)

~~~*Automated Installation for XP*~~~
Automate The Installation Of Windows XP
You can create a CD that can install Windows XP automatically, putting in all the details and answering all the dialog boxes.
The secret behind this is the answer file, which tells Windows what to do while it's installing. The answer file can be created using Windows setup manager.
Using this tool, you can make the answer file so powerful that you can even tell Windows to include or exclude individual components, set the display resolution, and more.
Here's the Steps involved in creating XP Automated Installation Disc:
Step 1: To begin with, insert your Windows XP installation CD into the drive and copy the entire contents of the CD to a new folder on your hard disk.
Step 2: Navigate to the Support > Tools folder on the CD and double-click the Deploy.cab file. Copy all the files to a new folder on your hard disk.
Step 3: The crucial part begins now, creating the answer file. To execute the windows setup manager, double click the Setupmgr.exe file from the contents of the Deploy.cab, which you just copied onto the hard drive.
Step 4: The first few steps of the wizard are self explanatory. Select the following options from the successive dialog boxes. Create a new answer file; Windows unattended installation (Select the appropriate Windows version); "Fully automated"; "No this answer file will be used to install from CD"; and finally, accept the license agreement.
Step 5: Under the General Settings, you can customize the installation of Windows by providing the default name and organization, display settings, time zone and the product key. Fill in the fields using the drop-down list or by keying in the details. If you don't select an option from the drop-down list, the default values will be used.
Step 6: After you are done click Finish and save the answer file as "winnt.sif" when you are prompted. Advanced users can further tweak the answer file by referring to the Help file called Ref.chm in the same folder.
Step 7: Finally copy the answer file to i386 folder in the Windows XP installation folder you created in the beginning.
Step 8: To burn a bootable installation disc, you need the boot sector of the Windows XP CD. Download it from here bootfiles.zip
Step 9: Launch Nero and select CD-ROM (Boot) from the New Compilation dialog box. Under the Boot tab, specify the boot sector file you downloaded and extracted. Set the emulation as "No emulation", and keep the boot message blank. Most importantly, remember to set the "Number of loaded sectors" as 4.
Step 10: Under the Burn tab, set the write method to disc at-once. Click the New button to to begin adding files and folders to the compilation. Drag all the contents of the Windows XP installation disc that you copied to your hard drive (with the answer file in the i386 folder) into the left pane.
Insert a blank CD into the optical drive and hit burn button.
Your windows automated installation Disc is ready!
Set up a wireless network without a router
Wireless networks are helpful because they let you use your computer and connect to the Internet anywhere in your home or office. However, most wireless networks use a wireless router, which can be expensive. If you have more than one computer, you can set up a wireless network without buying a wireless router and save yourself some money.
In a traditional wireless network, a wireless router acts as a base station, much like the base station for cordless phones. All wireless communications go through the wireless router, allowing nearby computers to connect to the Internet or to each other.
image
Ad hoc wireless networks work more like Willkie-talkies, because the computers communicate directly with each other. By enabling Internet Connection Sharing on one of the computers, you can share Internet access.
image
Ad hoc networking might seem like a much smarter alternative to using a wireless router, but it does have a couple of disadvantages:
• If the computer connected to the Internet is shut down, all computers that are part of the ad hoc network lose their Internet access.
• To connect to the Internet, one computer always needs a wired network connection.
To connect your computers to the Internet using an ad hoc wireless network, follow these high-level steps (described in more detail later in this article):
1. Enable Internet Connection Sharing on the Internet-connected computer. You can skip this step if you don't need to access the Web.
2. Set up the ad hoc wireless network on the Internet-connected computer.
3. Add your other computers to the wireless network.
How to enable Internet Connection Sharing
On networks with wireless routers, the router has the important job of forwarding communications from the computers on your home network to the Internet. On ad hoc networks, you must designate one computer to serve this role. The computer you choose must have a wired connection to the Internet, and it should be left on whenever you want to be able to use your other computers.
How to set up the first computer
To set up an ad hoc wireless network that allows computers to share an Internet connection without a router
1. If necessary, install a wireless network adapter.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Start menu with Control Panel selected
3. Under Pick a category, click Network and Internet Connections.
Control Panel with Network and Internet Connections selected
4. Under or pick a Control Panel icon, click Network Connections.
Or pick a Control Panel icon page with Network Connections selected
5. Right-click your wireless network connection, and then click Properties.
Wireless Network Connection options menu with pointer on Properties
6. In the Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box, click the Wireless Networks tab.
Wireless Networks tab in Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box
7. On the Wireless Networks tab, under Preferred networks, click Add.
Wireless Networks tab in Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box with pointer on Add button
8. In the Wireless network properties dialog box, on the Association tab, type the name of your ad hoc wireless network in Network name (SSID) box (shown in step 10). For example, you could name your wireless network MyHomeNetwork.
9. Clear the The key is provided for me automatically check box and select the This is a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network check box.
10. Create a 13-digit password and type it in both the Network key and Confirm network key boxes. For the best security, include letters, numbers, and punctuation. Then click OK.
Association tab in Wireless network properties dialog box
11. Click OK again to save your changes.
Wireless Networks tab in Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box
How to set up additional computers
If the computer you want to add to your network does not have built-in wireless network support, install a wireless network adapter.
Windows XP automatically detects the new adapter and notifies you that it found a wireless network.
Wireless networks detected notification
Now connect your computer to your wireless network
Note: These steps apply only if you're using Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). If you haven't installed SP2, visit Microsoft Update to install it before connecting to the ad hoc network.
1. Right-click the Wireless Network icon in the lower right corner of your screen, and then click View Available Wireless Networks.
Wireless Network icon shortcut menu with View Available Wireless Networks selected
Note: If you run into any problems, consult the documentation that came with your network adapter. Don't be afraid to call the manufacturer's technical support department for help.
2. The Wireless Network Connection window appears and displays your wireless network listed with the SSID you chose. If you don't see your network, click Refresh Network List in the upper left corner. Click your network, and then click Connect in the lower right corner.
Wireless Network Connection window Choose a wireless network page, with pointer on Connect
3. Windows XP prompts you to enter a key. Type your encryption key in both the Network key and Confirm network key boxes, and then click Connect.
Wireless Network Connection window, Network key prompt, with pointer on Connect
Windows XP shows its progress as it connects to your network. After you're connected, you can close the Wireless Network Connection window.
Repeat these three steps on each computer that you want to connect to your ad hoc wireless network.
Now you're ready to browse the Web wirelessly, from any computer you add to your home network.
Windows 7 Hack Tool Goes Open-Source, Now Available For Download
Windows 7 HackingFew days ago I posted the most easiest way to hack into any computer running Windows 7, Vista, XP, Gentoo, Debian, Ubuntu and Fedora bypassing the login completely, the hack allowed users to bypass the login and access operating-system with root or administrator privileges, Now, two Indian security researchers Vipin Kumar and Nitin Kumar have publicly released their Windows 7 exploit code VBootkit 2.0 as open-source under GPL license allowing hackers to exploit Windows 7 kernel undetected without modifying any files on the disk, the whole process takes place in memory exploiting trusted kernel files with hacker's code allowing them to gain control of the user computer without getting detected.
Using VBootkit To Hack Windows 7
The demonstration download includes fully compiled binary files and source-code with the remote command controlling utility which can be used to send commands to exploited Windows 7 computer.
Free Utility To Make Your USB Pen Drive Bootable
If you are an fairly advanced computer user, at times you may need to boot from devices other then the default hard-disk, mainly to troubleshoot virus infections and other critical operating-system related issues, I had shared tips on how to make bootable cd for performing advance system tasks on windows. Today I will share few utilities enabling you to create bootable USB pen drives with ease, you need to have Motherboard/BIOS with USB boot support for this to work.
MakeBootable is an free and simple-to-use utility to make your Pen Drive act as a boot-up disk without erasing any data on the device. It consists of a single executable file and requires no installation, However the utility will only work on USB device's using Phison’s chip solution and FAT file-system only (you can re-format your drives to FAT easily).
If the above utility fails to recognize your USB drive you can download and use the HP USB Format Utility and HP USB Boot utility, They work with other brands of flash drives as well, The best software for creating bootable flash drives with the most extensive support of drives and advance options would be "FlashBoot"
There are quite a few other manual methods to make usb devices bootable as discussed here, once you succeed in making your USB drive bootable using any of the method discussed above, You need to change the boot-up setting in the system BIOS as described below to boot using your portable device:
With your device inserted, restart the machine. Enter the BIOS setup menu to change the boot device setting. If the boot-up files are created in the USB drive, select USB-HDD or USB-ZIP (preferred). If the boot-up files are created in the floppy drive of your device, select USB-FDD (for Pen Drive that supports security mode). USB Boot BIOS Setting
Save and exit the BIOS setup. You should be able to boot up with you USB device.
